As a Cultural Care local childcare consultant (LCC), I invite our host families and au pairs as well as those considering Cultural Care Au Pair to explore my site and learn about what is going on in our community. I provide year-round support to host families and au pairs, and also talk to families considering the program to help them determine if Cultural Care Au Pair is the right childcare solution for them.
Let me tell you a little about myself.
I was born and raised in Denmark which equipped me with the typical Scandinavian values of independence, transparency and honesty. I was an au pair with two different families in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area from 2005-2007, an my life has been very international ever since.
I hold a B.A. in English and a M.A. in International Business Communications from the University of Southern Denmark. I became close with the international community in town (Odense, Denmark) which is where I met my wonderful South African husband, Mike.
We relocated to Tennessee and soon after to Albuquerque, NM, in 2014. I love the weather and the nature the Southwest has to offer, and enjoy road trips, camping, hiking with our dog, Biscuit, and skiing. I also love game nights, sewing for my Etsy shop and playing the Ukulele.
I obtained my Human Resources Professional certification in 2015 while pregnant, and in 2016, we welcomed our silly daughter, Elinor (Ellie-Belly). Having a baby made me very engaged in the local ‘baby/parent’ community.
As a mom and former Au Pair, I highly recommend hosting an au pair. An au pair can truly help transform the lives of both parents and children, by simplifying your daily responsibilities, allowing YOU to spend quality time with your child once you are back home. The children are given a chance to form great bonds with someone from a different culture. Different perspectives and new types of fun are also added to your child’s daily life.
Please reach out if you would like to learn more about your childcare options or if you have any questions. I’ll be happy to talk!
